New York, NY--Scrubs & Suits is pleased to announce the launch of our week-long celebration of National Nurses Week. In addition to featuring some of our own nurse bloggers and focusing on nurses this week in our articles, we’re asking our colleagues to nominate their favorite nurses for the inaugural Scrubs & Suits Noteworthy Nurse Award.

Here at Scrubs & Suits, we know how hard nurses work and how much they do for their patients. We want to honor and thank those nurses who tirelessly support and take care of their patients day after day, year after year. About the Scrubs & Suits Noteworthy Nurse Award

You may nominate as many nurses as you like, provided that you fill out a separate nomination form for each.

Every working and retired nurse, from LPNs to BSNs and beyond, is eligible for nomination. Specifically, we’re looking for nurses who:

Show excellence in nursing practices, including meeting each patient’s unique needs to the best of their ability.
Demonstrate compassion and concern for individual patients.
Serve as a role model for his or her peers, new employees and/or students.
Contribute in a positive way to the practice environment.

All nominated nurses will be thanked and honored in features on the Scrubs & Suits website in the coming weeks, and 13 nominated nurses will win prizes, to include:

Lepolia West Announces Book Release, "Officer, Why Don't You Adopt Him?"

Gary, Indiana- January 30, 2012-- Lepolia (Lee) West has released his book, "Officer, why don't you adopt him?" West's book is based off of his adoption success story, which includes his struggle to become the first bachelor in Indiana to adopt an infant. West's mission to adopt was difficult, as he was a bachelor with a dangerous career, and bachelor's weren't considered to be an eligible adoptive parent.

While serving the Chicago Police Department, an abandoned infant was brought into the local hospital, igniting West's passion to become the boy's father. At the time, West didn't want to be a father, but God instilled the passion in West to be the father the boy needed and deserved.

Although many told West it was an impossible battle, he continued on his journey to adopt the infant. However, West's aspiration to be the boy's father became more difficult because another family wanted the boy too. After an unfortunate turn of events, the shooting death of a Chicago Police investigator, West's journey became easier with the help of the public.

The highly publicized case caught the attention of many publications, including the Chicago Tribune, The Wall Street Journal and Ebony Magazine. After a long and passionate battle, Lepolia West was finally able to adopt the boy, becoming the first bachelor in Illinois to adopt.

West's story caught the attention of Chicago actress Ann Jillian. Jillian informed Hollywood producer Joyce Selznick of West’s story in 1981. Selznick and West reached an agreement to develop a feature film or television series to share West's story. However, Selznick unexpectedly passed away before production commenced.

West’s journey inspired him to help others interested in adoption by sharing his story in the true book, "Officer...why don't you adopt him?"

“I believe, that if men and women would choose to address this social issue of abandoned, abuse and neglected kids, many of the wrongs of this world could be made right again," West said.

Thanks for your inquiry. We are seeking bloggers for The WM Freelance Writer's Connection and a new site set to launch in February, The WM Better Life Connection, which will include every topic related to living a better life.

Here are some details about blogging for The WM Network:

We cannot offer to pay any of our writers at this time. We do, however, offer a few other benefits.

1. Link love--you may link to any and all of your websites and pages from our sites--the one(s) you work on as well as the main WM Network site.

2. A space in our sidebar to do with as you please-- Sell it to an advertiser (and keep the money), use an affiliate marketing system, advertise your own websites or services, etc. (Our other WM writers have found their sidebar spaces fairly lucrative in some cases.) When writing for The WM Network, you have the opportunity to advertise a book you have written in our WMF book store as long as it relates to writing.

3. Publicity and Networking Opportunities--being part of our network not only links you with several other great writers and bloggers, but also places your work and links to other work on a site which promises to have great traffic numbers.

We offer you the opportunity to post your other work on one or both of our WM Network Facebook pages in an admin capacity. Posts are auto-tweeted to our Twitter accounts as well.

Finally, we offer you the opportunity to be a part of a friendly and helpful network of writers. As a group, we've grown significantly since our inception and several of us have seen career growth along the way. Advancement opportunities within The WM Network are possible as well.

Should you be chosen to join the team, we'd need you to post once each week on your specified day, If you're not able to post that day, you can set up the posts in advance for auto-posting.

If there's ever a time that you find yourself unable to post for any reason, we can fill in for you. Just try to let us know in advance whenever possible. We also have a staff group which you would need to join. In this group, we communicate amongst ourselves about the website, projects, concerns, brainstorming, suggestions, questions, etc.

We are asking interested writers to submit an audition post so that we can get an idea of your style and abilities. Your audition post should be between 300 and 600 words and should cover the related topic of your choice. All audition posts may be used as guest posts, and will include a byline with a link back to the site of your choice as well as a short bio. Please specify for which blog(s) your audition post(s) is intended when you submit.

In addition to blogging, Sarah enjoys providing copywriting services to businesses because it offers her a chance to learn something new and help a business learn how to communicate with existing and potential customers. When she's not busy writing businesses or querying magazines, Sarah enjoys fiction writing, reading, crafting and hunting. She and her husband are hoping to launch a hunting blog in Summer 2012.

Stephanie Stevens is a wife and a WAHM to three awesome children, and serves as home school instructor for her oldest son. Stephanie lives in rural area of Kentucky, where she and her family enjoy gardening and caring for the family pets. We are looking for parents who are passionate about children!

We are currently looking for an older, experienced parent who knows the ropes about parenthood and what it takes to raise children. Maybe you children are grown and have moved out of the house? Maybe you are a grandparent? We are looking for a parent to cover our weekly advice column. Being a parent doesn't come with an instruction manual, which causes parents to have questions about how to handle situations or just need some advice. Does this sound like something you can do? Then, we want you!
We also have 2 other blogging positions open for parents who are passionate about raising their children. If you are passionate about your job as a parent, let us know!

We also have a staff group which you would need to join. In this group, we communicate amongst ourselves about the website, projects, concerns, brainstorming, suggestions, questions, etc.

We are asking interested writers to submit an audition post so that we can get an idea of your style and abilities. Your audition post should be about 250-300 words and should cover the related review topic of your choice. All audition posts may be used as guest posts, and will include a byline with a link back to the site of your choice as well as a short bio.

If you're interested, you will be asked to choose a review opportunity we have available to review so we can get an idea of your writing/review style. Funny Acceptance Speech from Parenting Connection Blogger Deb Pecis

In a long ago and faraway time (last February), Deb Pecis received kudos from the WM Network for receiving the most comments in January on the WM Parenting Connection for her post, “My Response to the Chinese Parenting Piece.” Well, she actually tied with Kelli Robinson for “Reach for the Stars...and Take the Tiara With You,” but who's counting?

Deb responded with the most eloquent acceptance speech. And today, we share it with you.

Oh my God, I so wasn't expecting to win this comment of the month thing! I'm just in shock! It's so surreal to be sitting here, at my computer screen, accepting this. Just to be grouped with such brilliant bloggers is amazing and humbling! I'm so glad I didn't embarrass myself by tripping over my Snuggi/kids' toys/laundry baskets on the way up to this virtual podium.

First of all, I'd like to thank Angie and Alyssa, for starting this blog.

You're an inspiration to us all. And Al Gore, who I hear invented the internet--but who invented blogging? I'm not sure, but thank you. Thank you to Mark Zuckerberg, and Amy Chau for her Chinese Parenting piece.

And of course, thank you to my wonderful husband, Brad Pitt, and the electrician that I hope you hire soon, as well as my children who are my constant inspiration/headache/reason for living/reason for drinking.

Also, thank you to my stylists--Kohls and Sauve shampoo--as well as the folks at Fantastic Sam's for a cheap haircut, and no, I don't need it blowdried, even if it's 8 degrees outside, I'd rather save a buck and treat myself at Starbucks.

Thank you to Starbucks, simply for being, and for providing us bloggers with the delusion that we are fancy, artsy-fartsy writers simply because we are drinking what is essentially hot ice cream with a fancier name.

And finally, thank you to Pam Houghton, who's exemplary (sp?) persuasion abilities convinced me to take this non-paying gig, and who continues to prod me to do things like start an author website (still in the works), attend networking events, or just drink more Starbucks.
